📅Monthly Maintenance
Quick checks you can do every month to catch problems early.
Check for Leaks
Inspect under all sinks, around toilets, and near the water heater for any signs of dripping or moisture. Even a small leak can waste thousands of gallons per year and cause mold growth.
Test Toilet for Leaks
Add a few drops of food coloring to the tank. If color appears in the bowl within 15 minutes without flushing, you have a leak. A running toilet can waste up to 200 gallons per day.
Clean Faucet Aerators
Unscrew the aerator from each faucet and soak in white vinegar overnight to remove mineral buildup. This restores water pressure and improves flow efficiency.
Run Unused Fixtures
Run water in seldom-used sinks, tubs, and toilets to prevent dried-out P-traps. Dry traps allow sewer gases to enter your home, causing unpleasant odors.
Check Water Pressure
Use a pressure gauge on an outdoor spigot. Ideal home water pressure is 40–60 PSI. High pressure (above 80 PSI) can damage pipes, fixtures, and appliances over time.
